I am a life-long resident of Jackson Township and am raising my three boys, Michael, Benjamin and Nicholas, here.  During my tenure as an elected official, I have served this community as mayor, deputy mayor and committeeman. I have always felt that, as an elected official, it is my job to always be available to the people who have put me in office, and I always have my office open to them.   

I have either authored or played a major role in the following programs which have had an enormous positive impact on the residents of our community.  Some of these accomplishments are:

v     Changed residential zoning to minimum 3 Acres

v     Started “Meet the Mayor” program once a month at the library

v     Started “Mayor’s Safe Trick or Treat”

v     Started Mayor’s Teen Dances

v     Started Movies in the Park

v     Introduced Pedophile Residency Restriction Ordinance

v     Introduced Street Closure Prohibition Ordinance

v     Introduction of both Open Space Referenda

v     Introduced Mobile Home Park Oil Tank Removal Ordinance

v     Introduced Mobile Home Rehabilitation Program

v     Established requirement that Builders Notify Residents when their bond is to be released.

v     Found a home for the Nutrition Program for needy Seniors

v     Found a home for the Jackson Food Pantry

v     Instrumental in creating the Kimball Closet

v     Building of the Roller Hockey Rink

v     Building of Skate Park

v     Re-naming of Senior Center to Melvin Cottrell Center for Seniors and the Disabled

v     Re-naming of the Public Works Building to the John Smatusik, Jr. Public Works Building

v     Jackson Jungle (fundraising co-chairperson)

v     Raised $9,552 for American Red Cross, Jersey Coast Chapter, benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina

v     Chaired the Jackson Township Vest-A-Cop Program

v     Commuter Parking and Bus Service

Additionally, I have had the honor of receiving Kimball Medical Center’s 2005 Humanitarian of the Year award as well as the Jackson Chamber of Commerce’s 2001 Citizen of the Year.

My involvement with Jackson is not limited solely to government.  I have also been affiliated with the following community organizations:
